'No comments = not credible,' Part II
Before getting back to l'affaire blog comments, I think we can all agree on one, and probably the only, rule of blogging: Don't blog about work -- unless you have a lucrative book contract lined up. ... OK, now back to the comments issue. Lots of discussion here and here and here. My own view is that, yes, comments can enhance a blog. But comments can also be a pain in the ass -- and I see and hear about a lot of bloggers grappling with spam and whether to moderate uncivil discussions, etc. I just don't have the time or inclination to deal with it. Now, I do have another blog where comments are allowed. Fine. But someone else is professionally backing me up on the spam/uncouth front over there. I don't have to deal with it. ... I'll leave it at that. I'm blogging about work, and that's a no no -- unless someone wants to give me a lucrative book contract about my glamourous job as a juicy tabloid business reporter. Then I'll gladly tell all! ...
